This video was produced in partnership with the volunteer 'SNV Counts 2010' Southern Nevada 2010 Census Complete Count Committee and KLVX - Vegas PBS. It is the fourth in a five-part series that will highlight the different ways Nevada families will be impacted by the 2010 census.
This vignette is intended to demonstrate highlight the important role that census data play in allocating federal funds for state and local education programs. Census data are used to allocate federal funds for educational programs that help special needs children and programs that contribute to enhanced quality of education in underserved areas, such as the TitIe I program. More than anything, the message is that for every one Nevada census form left blank or unreturned, our schools will lose out on federal funding they desperately need. The 2010 Census will impact education funding for our community's schools for the next ten years!
A special thanks is owed to all volunteer "SNV Counts 2010" complete count committee members who made this possible, especially KLVX - Vegas PBS for donating the time, energy, and resources needed to help share this compelling family story.
