i'm going 2 have 2 try ur method of simmering the rice for 20-30 min. i always boiled the water first, then turned the heat down n kept an eye on it. my rice was never long grain after i did it...

@nubianhoney333 For that you would need to boil it, not fry it in the beginning. The oil does something to the starches that keep it from getting fluffy.

you should say "IS YOUR TURN!" at the end..lol

very strange overwhelming and unappealing flavor that basmati rice has in my opinion what is it? someone explain it to me please
Thanks for the GREAT tip on how to cook the rice. My wife usually cooks the rice right from the start in water & I never liked the way the rice tasted. My wife tried making the rice your way by toasting it first and then adding the water. The rice tasted DELICIOUS!
Question: You say to add in whole cloves but it tasted very hard and bitter. Is there a way to soften the cloves?
Do you have any other recipes for food posted anywhere?
Thanks so much for posting your recipe. :-)

Hi, Thanks! For the cloves and cardamon, I don't usually eat them. They are there to scent the rice but taste very strong on their own (not to mention they might be too hard to chew and swallow). I would just leave them in my plate. Thanks for watching.
