The Great Escape (Original) walkthrough: Bomber Raid

This is from the PS2 version of The Great Escape but can be used for all versions of the game. This is the intro mission.

Mission 2 coming soon. Here's the original walkthrough that I have written for this mission.

Mission 1: Bomber Raid

Character: MacDonald
Inventory: None
Objective(s): None

You start off in first person mode, you can't do anything. Your co-pilot goes to check the back of the plane you hear a scream of agony. You now have control of MacDonald.

New objective(s): Get the Fire Extinguisher, Fight the Fires

Get the Fire Extinguishe

A timer will appear at the top of the screen, you'll have 45 seconds to get the Extinguisher. When y6ou get to it press the "action" button and MacDonald will equip it automatically.

Fight the Fires

You probably have about 40 seconds left of the timer. Run forward to the first group of flames. Hold the "action" button until the energy bar at the bottom of the screen disappears. Run forward to the second group of flames and do the same as the first.

New objective: Defend Aircraft

A cinematic will show a bunch of German planes attacking. Run to the back of the plane, the timer's gone now. At the back of the plane press "action" to man the machine gun. The game will automatically go into first person. When an enemy plane comes into the crosshairs press the "attack" button 5to shoot it down. After about five or six planes another cinematic plays.

New objective: Destroy Codebook

A 35 second timer appears. Run back up to the front of the airplane. When you get to the codebook press "action" and MacDonald will burn it.

New Objective: Get a Parachute

You probably have about 20 seconds left. Run to the back of the plane again until a parachute appears on screen. Press "action" to retrieve it.

New Objective: Abandon Aircraft

Turn around and head back toward the front of the plane.

PS2 version sucks, PC rules. Everybody says it, well excluding somebody. I'm not saying that your walkthroughs suck, the opposite - they're great.
