Play it slower (2/3)! You can outmatch the routine this way and force the audience to follow those chromatic lines, which now seem to vanish into harmonics. You will see, how the sounding changes when you leave more tempo to the flow. The faster you play, the more your pianoforte looses to the recall of a cembalo-performance. Any purist (as critic) prefers a over-interpretation of his idealism if the wrong instrument is going to be played.
Although I liked your interpretation (it was very tasteful) you loose the rythmic strength that emphasizes the fatal maniacal desperation in this music. It now becomes more sentimental melancholistic. It looses power.
