This video explains how to construct a model of a geodesic dome from card and paper. Some dome history and theory is also included. A good resource for teaching structures and mechanisms.

  • Thanks a lot for the upload. It's awesome!

  • Very calm and warm voice, great educational video and thank you for sharing, how can you calculate the radius if more pentagon is added as a second layer on the bottom, I want to create a 12 feet radius dome and I have calculated A= 2.26 m and B= 2.00m but I want to this with 16 pentagons instead of 6, I appreciate your response.

  • is it possible to do this without the use of glue?

  • here is a good tip, photocopy it.

  • Great ! Greets Inge

  • Thank you so much for this instruction video. We were discussing the how difficult it would be to build and live in a dome. We have decided to design and build a dog house for our pup based on the instructions and formulas you provided. Your video is extremely informative and organized. We really appreciate that you have shared your knowledge.

  • El video es muy bueno y completo.

    Construiré algunos de esta manera.

  • Beautiful & informative!

Geodesic design has been a passion of mine for forty years. I had the chance to hear Buckminster Fuller speak at our local library, and got to speak with him afterwards. I think he would be delighted to see how this new medium can be used for noble educational purposes, especially when it involves his eco-friendly, energy efficient domes.

Great video! Great use of Media! Well done sir!

  • How do you tell what the angle of the tabs are if this structure were to be made of a hard substance? Great video

  • My kids are wanting to do this as a school project. We will probably finish it off with an aerosol lacquer.
