that was really tricky. if we ever have a fire i will be freaked out because i didnt understand this latter at all. its almost scary. i should know how to use that latter.

I believe this is THE BEST FAMILY FIRE DRILL EVER, a drill is exactly that, to find out how to act an use equipment available. This family found out this is not the best option in case of fire, they should try another way.

These guys are doing exactly the right thing by actually trying out their emergency equipment before there is an emergency. The video shows better than any words can express just how long it can take and how confusing it can be for some untrained person to work out exactly what to do and find out what problems there may be with it.

It is not necessary to actually climb down the ladder if the risk is great (as it would obviously be with this family) but it is vital to get it out and put it up.

Perfect example of how difficult it is to use fire escape ladders like these and how frightened people are even just to practice! Ladders that are for one time use only are not worth buying. You must be able to practice. The act of going out a window backwards to climb down a ladder is extremely precarious. TEST YOUR LADDER BEFORE AN EMERGENCY HAPPENS. Make sure everyone in the family can use it and that it even fits your window!
