This is the third song from "Days in the Shore." It was inspired by a Steely Dan tune whose name is in the first line. The pool table footage was shot at Piston's Bar in Long Beach. Dance footage was filmed at Cerritos College in April '09. Special thanks to John, Nikki and Jim; Without their support, this video would not exist.
The Western World looks so pale
To the eyes of the human male
Vanishing light drawn in by the night
Is constantly gripping your heels
Taking you making you part of the deal
The smiles greet you at the door
The ones you've never seen before
Traffic lines and exit signs
All serve to just point the way
Carry your sins on your back like yesterday
Down at the Five O'Clock Club
No one knows you are here
Until that day you finally leave alone
Down at the Five O'Clock Club
The name you give is never your own
When all the demons disappear
The notion fades right in your hand
But then no matter where you stand
Hallowed ground winding down on
Memories that you can't shake
Like a fool waiting for his heart to break
City lights fade all around
Morning light comes with no sound
All is clear the reason you're here
Stuck to the soles of your shoes
Haunting you until you sing the blues
Down at the Five O'Clock Club
No one had to show you the way
Trails of broken hearts are all in view
Down where you last left your heart
A veil of darkness you can see through
Admission is just a start
superstar! very sylvian-esque.. great.
