This is possibly the farthest throw by a trebuchet recorded in modern times- possibly up to 2,300 feet. As miraculous as this might be, it is unofficial, and the official record is approximately 1,894 feet at the 2008 World Championship Punkin' Chunkin' Contest. Contrary to belief, these large siege engines are not the same thing as catapults (which are opperated through the tightening and twisting of rope). Instead, trebuchets are opperated through large counterweights- in this case nearly 12,00 lbs of weight.
I really was expecting to see a huge gap appear in that cloud :D
