"THESE MEMORIES OF YOU... THIS IS NOT A LOVE POEM"

It has always been easier
to remember vividly
then forget completely
about these endless hallways
in which I store these thoughts.

And the appreciation of sunlight
is not the only beauty these rainstorms
with outstretched arms have brought
to eyes with pan a quiet ceiling to catch shadows
dancing in the corners of a moonlit hotel room
and perhaps I catch them
a moment after they shrink into stillness
or perhaps I always look too soon
but regardless
they escape me
like certainty, sensitivity and her concentration
and things change these days too quickly
to estimate a time frame or name a destination.

As I enter through these portals of mixed feelings
and miscommunicated points of view
and knee deep in these reflections
and remainders of connections
and deceptions
all I think about is truth
which is awkward first
and sacred second
as I am sinking further into these memories of you
which cradles me as if to say
(as you once did)

The journey always looks the clearest
after you've already traveled through.
