As Memorial Day draws near, let us remember what it's about. It is for those who gave their lives for our country. It's not the day that the swimming pool opens, like one child believed when asked what Memorial Day meant. On April 1, 1945, my uncle was killed in action in Germany. I never got to know him, but I will always appreciate his and every one else's sacrifices, then and now.
