Extended 12-inch remix version (issued Spring 1979) of The Jacksons "Blame It On The Boogie" (1978). This single was issued by Epic Canada, and very few copies were imported to the U.S. However, after only a few weeks on the shelves, The Jacksons requested that the single be pulled. They claimed the remix was not authorized by them, and would detract from the sales of their `Destiny' albumn. Incidently, the song was neither written nor produced by any of The Jacksons. The original single was made by a German group, who released their version a few months before the `Destiny' version came out. The B-side featured the remix version of `Shake Your Body To The Ground', was was a huge hit.

  • Sounds like I'm in a Rollerskating Rink. Which is great. Much love to this remix.

Wish they never pulled it off the shelves though.

  • This version finally was granted an official release -- and just this past January. It's on The Jacksons `Destiny' CD, Legacy Edition.

  • Oh really? Glad they did, because this is a REALLY nice remix. Back then, I could understand why they never released it, then after the release of Destiny, I'm clueless of why they didn't.

  • It only took Epic Records thirty years to release this!! By the way, the CD also has the remix version of `Shake Your Body'.

  • I've had a listen to some of the other "remixes" of this song on here, but none of them beat this one. This version has a depth to it that none of the others posess. Fair enough they pulled it off the shelves because it would distract from the Destiny album, but I think at the end of the day, this song definetley did the jackson 5 a favour.

  • I agree with your comments about the song doing The Jacksons (not the Jackson 5) a favor. But, at the time, they were trying to establish themselves as serious writers and producers, and didn't want a cover song to distract from that. This remix has been enhanced with compression and echo, so it does sound much more brillant than the other YouTube clips of this song. Thanks for your comments!

  • Dang! I didn't know there was a remix to this song. This song has a good beat to it and you feel like you're at a disco.

  • ANOTHER John Luongo remix! :) He did a great job with the Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) remix too, which was released in the US in 1979! :)

  • @ Tatevossian,

Go to eBay.com and you will find many pressings of this 12" remix which date back to the 80's. It was used on numerous subsequent Jacksons 12 inch releases (Torture 12 inch, etc).

  • @TatevossianA I hear you on that statement. It can be done. 2pac with all the cussin on his songs, he was capable of doing a few classic clean songs without using nigga, bitch & hoes.
