Super Handling All-Wheel Drive

Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, called SH-AWD, that provides cornering performance that responds faithfully to driver input, and outstanding vehicle stability. A world's first, the SH-AWD system combines front-rear torque distribution control with independently regulated torque distribution to the left and right rear wheels to freely distribute the optimum amount of torque to all four wheels in accordance with driving conditions.

The SH-AWD system is composed of sensors to detect steering angle, lateral g, and other vehicle information; an ECU; and the rear differential. The direct electromagnetic clutches inside the rear differential, another world's first, employ electromagnets to obtain precise control over the multi-plate clutches. Built-in search coils monitor the gaps between the electromagnets and the magnetic body to achieve precise, continuously variable torque regulation.

  • ........... putting a system like this in a Civic Si, or anything else with a NA 4cyl will just be a waste of time and money. First off the system is not cheap, it's going to raise the price of the Civic by at least 5k.. just try and find someone willing to pay 29K for a Civic lol. Plus it's going to add a few hundred pounds and needs TQ to be fully appreciated, in the end an SH-AWD Civic will be slower and more expensive then the FWD Si.

  • This system i think should only be an Acura exclusive offer. I don't think they should ever put it in Honda vehicles. Just so Acura can be that more desirable.

  • @bxlxix69 This is not the same system used by the CR-V. Please get your facts straight. Thanks.

  • OMG! it's the Stig!

  • that is so fucking cool

  • is this or audis quattro better?

  • damn i need to get one of those rear diffs for my jeep hahaha

  • i thought that an all wheel drive was when all the wheel steered lol

  • I think Honda should put this system in the C-RV if they want it to be a serious AWD SUV/Crossover.

Current AWD system in CR-V is a total failure!

  • @bxlxix69 awww YOUMAD hahahahah YOUUUMADDD
