http://www.onlinetefl.com/teaching-internships/china/?source=youtubechannel Dave tests his students listening skills with this fun game - write lots of words on the board, arm two students with different coloured chalk, then ask then to circle the words as you shout them out - the team who's circled the most words wins! Just make sure it doesn't descend into violence!

  • I am considering getting a certificate to go teach English to Chinese kids! I did not do particularly well in English at school and I'm now 27, and not much of my English has been in practice since school either! Nonetheless, I really want to go teach and am very ditermined! Is it like, absolutely neccessary for one to be great at English? Or is it possible to just mainley focus on vocal and read from books etc. Might sound ridiculous but I do want to go teach despite the fact I am very average.

  • wow fantastic! what energy& excitement in them

  • Thanks Dave!

I'm forever trying to find ways to maintain my students (Air Traffic Controllers) interest, and have so far relied on Powerpoint with animations.

Obviously this takes ages to do, so this approach is a breath of fresh air and a welcome change to passing the wireless mouse around the room for students to click on multiple choice answers.

I added a bit more to your idea, by getting them to find rhyming words and homophones, and giving me an example sentence for clarification.

  • Very nice! much better than the other video I just watched about making it rain...

  • Wish irish had been taught like this.

  • This is good teaching skill! i like this approach! it's involving the class and getting them excited about learning!

  • how old are this kids?nice teaching

  • fun the listening needs repetition

  • ROFL, it's kind of like wallstreet!

  • This is hilarious - looks like it's imminently going to descend into violence!
