wow I remember this. our entire basement was full of water up to my shins. power was out for two days. you couldn't go anywhere without a bridge/road being washed out or road closures. that was a nightmare

I remember that week, but never saw I-85/75 submerged like that. This has never happened before.

@jeepers2655 You are obviously not from Atlanta or else you'd know that this has NEVER happened before. 20 inches of rain in 2 days will do this anywhere, and not just in a flood plain. Across the road from me was under 8-10 feet of water that day. Those were areas NOT in a flood plain. This was a 500 yr if not a 1,000 yr. flood.

OK,you ALL need to move to higher ground and let the low lying areas stay in a flood plain.......just like New Orleans and other areas that have Levees......WHY would ANYONE want to live in an area that is lower than water???????

all you dumbasses please stop saying it was a presidents fault... are you fuckin stupid?? obviously u are...

@hitohane I live in Kennesaw, 25 Miles N of Atlanta. But I still think Atlanta is being tortured by this. First, Hurricane Jean or whatever in '06 or '05 made Kennesaw have power loss. Next, the Tornado in Atlanta. We had half-dollar sized hail, and then last: This. We were fine, but we were 200 feet up at our house. You drive up 4 hills to get there. At the bottom, the road was under 5 feet o/ water.

I think we all Georgians remember that day! However, I didn't realize that 75/85 was that bad on that day. The Mudslide on 78 was my biggest head ache besides all of the flooded roads in the Mountain Park area!

In Minneapolis, some time ago, in July 1987, some spots in South Minneapolis received 6" and along the Edina / Bloomington ,MN border received 14" in 24 hours, with 11" in 6 hours.

I didn't even bother trying to go downtown after seeing what was going on via tv. I sat at home which rests on top of a hill and watched it in safety. No need venturing out and possibly getting stuck. :-)
Katrina was not Bush's fault either! mayor nagin was more at fault than BUSH. Why were there cars , buses and other forms of trans. floating in new Orleans ? Simple, nobody who stayed were smart but they will always blame BUSH! ...... IDIOTS !!!!!!
