  • You've got some awesome pictures. I think they were taken for 'Life' magazine, but the issue they were supposed to be in was cancelled because of World War 2 started. Fantastic 5+

  • Yes, that's correct! It was taken for the "Life" by Eric Schaal!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • @baasting When did Life Magazine finally release these photos?

  • @Pickinbuddy Because of the attack on the Pearl Harbor the Life Magazine decided not to publish the story and the pictures. But if I'm not mistaken, the Life Magazine published an article in 1991 "The Ballad of A. P. Carter", and I think they also published those pictures. Anyway, the pictures were also uploaded to the internet, so everybody could see them.

  • I never tire of listening to the original Carter Family. The sound reaches deep.

The pictures are great, but sad in a way. AP was estranged from Sara at the time and it shows in the pictures. As I recall the story, they never got back together.

  • @docsavage98 Thanks, Doc

  • @Dullborn sounds about like capoed around 4 or 5....she often did songs capoed on 5 and played the C chord formations

  • Anyone know how Maybelle tuned her guitar for this one...is it standard tuning capoed up or an open??

    Thanks..

  • Here is the YouTube clip of Sara and AP's graves.....just steps apart.

  • To the person who asked where A.P. is buried, he's buried at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist church near the Carter Fold in VA., along with several other members of the Carter family

  • Simple and honest. The way music should be.

  • I love that old Viginia accent!
