Inside the gates of Yosemite National Park, just a short hop from
Yosemite Valley, you will find the community of Yosemite West.
This community is open year round to local residents and to visitors
who come to stay in the areas many vacation rentals while they enjoy
the magnificent wonders that Yosemite National Park has to offer.
It is nestled in the forest on Henness Ridge just west of Hwy 41
at an elevation of about 5500 feet.
Yosemite West can be enjoyed as a vacation destination for twelve
months of the year. Spring and summer bring the most visitors, but
fall and winter are delightful times to visit as well.
For travelers to Yosemite West, the Henness Ridge Road junction
off Hwy 41 brings you into the community. When you reach the
mailboxes at the corner of Henness Ridge Road and Henness
Circle, you will find a map that shows the layout of Yosemite West.
As part of Mariposa County, Yosemite West is a subdivision of 294
lots on approximately 120 acres (36 ha), complete with underground
utilities and paved roads. To date there are 153 developed lots with houses,
including two condominium buildings with a total of 48 units. It is surrounded
on three sides by Yosemite National Park and Sierra National Forest.
