I showed this video at my Grandfather's funeral. I will be adding some things and amping it up a touch but it is still something that I enjoyed putting together to honor the memory of a man who truly lived an incredible life.
At the end of the video is a short clip of the changing of the guard that happened while my grandfather was lying at rest in the state capital to honor him for the years of service he performed for the people of the 98th district of the state of Oklahoma in the house of representatives. This was a very beautiful and moving way to honor my grand father and at the grave site the state troopers further honored his memory with a volley salute and a flag presentation.
One of the other things that we found very moving was that the governor declared that the flags be flown at half mast and we were presented with one of the flags flown at the state capital on the day he was lying in state in the capital building.
The music is a song written by my uncle called Bartemaus from his first album in the 70's and was one of my grandfather's favorite songs that my uncle ever wrote.
I hope you will see what type of man my grandfather was. He was strong, helpful, always available, wise, and many other things but the thing I loved the most and the thing that anyone who knew him would say is that he loved life and he loved people. I am so thankful for his example of what true godly love looks like. I am a far better man because of it.
He was a handsome man. Kind looking too. :)
