@thewhofan99 Sure the 2000+ Volvo's had some cool new features but their reliability went to the drain and the cost of repair got way too much

@robm425 early 5 cyls had head gasket problems. those new ones make all kinds of power but like i said they sucked in the beginning. i have the so called "worst volvo ever" ('99 s80) and it's just fine. the 2.9 is leathery smooth but being FWD it's not all that smooth. it currently has 161,xxx on it and the only thing i'm worried about is the GM tranny they use that i always hear horror stories about. but you can't tell me the s80 has gotten worse past 2000.

@thewhofan99 Volvo's went from easily being able to reach 150k + pre-2000. The 5cyc never hurt Volvo it was a bullet proof engine it made the reliability great. I have a 5cyc turbo S70 FWD, and 6cyc "gutless" V90 RWD. Both very reliable with my s70 at 160k miles and V90 at 218k miles. It was after 2000 when it became rare to seen volvo with over 100k. And when my mechanic, a Swedish specialist, gave up recommending Volvo's.

@robm425 i wouldn't say ford fucked up volvo's after 2000. the 850 sucked and the interior wasn't worth a shit, the 960 was gutless and just plain ugly. the real problem was making volvos more modern. the combination of front wheel drive and that damn 5 cyl really hurt volvos reputation. that's all on volvo. those older 240's and 940's were the bomb though. nothing better than a stout RWD sedan with that bulletproof 4 banger

Volvo is the most reliable European make sold in the USA. Volvo's quality did drop from 1999-2002 with intro of new technology such ETM (electronic throttles), GM transmissions on the P2 platform. 2003+ Volvos are VERY reliable especially compared to V.A.G. and Mercedes products.

Wow, the last drift of the video is incredible... practically sideways. Impressive considering the 300 lbs of snow on the roof.
