@Fleasfleas2 you make a valid point...but I NEVER said that I NEED a certain style of music to be spiritually moved. But lets be honest, music is a powerful tool and is some peoples connection to God. After all music is simply word put to rhythm, so in essence it is preaching the gospel...

@Fleasfleas2 the point is that all music is from God, and like I stated before the music that you are referring to as "holy" at one point in time had its root in the contemporary society of the time. The difference is that now to us its "old" and therefore we dont tend to like it in society, and that makes some christians think that it makes it that much more holy but it really doesnt. I personally get spiritually moved through R&B style praise and worship, does that mean its wrong?

@Fleasfleas2 and your argument that hymns are psalms based and not emotionally based proves nothing....if you look at another book Songs of Solomon he wrote things based off his emotion towards God...and not ONLY towards God he even went as far to write love songs, so what does this mean??
-
@Fleasfleas2 Not only that but the Psalms you reference at one point in time were considered "contemporary" and all made by man to express his love/worship towards God...so who are you to say that a man that is born in the Caribbean cannot express himself the only way he knows how which is through his music...no different then Solomon or David when they did their praise and worship, David played the harp and he had to learn from somewhere right??
-
@Fleasfleas2 you changing the argument now...First it was about a rhythm, now your referencing lyrics??....ok so then if I apply Psalms based passage to a rhythm does that make it ok? Or is it dependent upon the "type" of rhythm it is...matter fact what is rhythm?...Does it have to include instruments, or if i say it in a different flow (such as rappers, poets, etc do) have I somehow made it that less "holy"??
-
@Fleasfleas2 Please spare me the lecture...have you even done research on these so called "hymns" that so many consider "sacred" nowadays??? In reality they were adaptations of the contemporary music of that time simply applied to worship God...i.e. what we consider slow praise and worship in todays church, was once considered "ungodly" romantic music in its time.

As a past music minister, I 2, play various instruments. Even though it was meant as a joke...u should know that it can hurt those that, do play like him...Maybe they do it because there's no one else that can but do it to favor God...You must understand that many people may come across this video and not see it as a joke but see it as a cruel thing 2 do 2 another...especially in a church...sorry if I have offended, but sadly...2 many things go on inside the church that should'nt...God Bless!

Thanks for your input...This is actually my cousin who is a very talented musician and also minister of music, this was not meant as a cruel joke to offend anyone and if it did then I do not see why it would, it was simply us enjoying ourselves in God's Sanctuary...I joke around with him all the time and its amongst family...But thanks again and God bless
