This was a very good video. I don't practice this particular style of aikido, but it was interesting nonetheless. The energy of the performers was excellent. I enjoy seeing young, enthusiastic practitioners.

@syimang (part 2) It think it is important to remember that it is a spiritual martial art not a particularly combat oriented one..and was used along with ju Jitsu and sword play by the Samurai: Therefore it is unfair and unrealistic to expect Aikido to work all by itself without integration with some other fighting form

@syimang I doubt it can be used in the UFC as the rules prohibit small joint manipulation. Surely enough outside of a sporting event where the participants are not wearing gloves and grabbing and shoving is involved, as usually seen in real fights, Aikido might have a chance.

I understand that this was just a demonstration. Can anyone tell me if any compliance was involved? It looks like they perform front rolls when thrown..like throwing themselves on the floor when grabbed; is this indeed the case or is it pure leverage involved?

It's amazing that I never came across this style before. I like that they use full force and resistance in a sport format.
