  • Update, this is now $21.33 with free shipping. (Nov 19, 2011)

As to the metal band on the Canon version. That is true, but you could 7 of them for the price of the canon. I am just going to put some properly fitted shrink around the connect to stiffen it up. Thanks for the review. I have the canon one in my hand but will return to Amazon as this one is the SAME one.

  • @clc2112 Great! glad it helped save some money. FYI I have never had an issue with my remote coming loose and I do a ton of time- lapses outdoors. Happy shooting!

  • The "canon" off-brand cable releases I've used (2) have failed at the plug that connects to the camera. As with your model, the off brand is an all plastic plug, with nothing to hold it in place. The canon plug has a metal clamp to hold it in, and the plug itself is far more substantial.

  • @ToyRail stable??? your using a timing- remote, so the camera is probably on sticks. Perhaps you use the remote while jogging and need a lock tight plug or perhaps you are just trying to make yourself feel better for spending over 100 extra bucks when you didnt need to... Im trying to be funny but in actuality I have use the canon brand... and it is NO different. Im not sure what metal clamp you are talking about

  • Thanks for the review! any update on the review after the costa rica trip? battery life, performance, functions

  • @PUPPETFILM since... its been one tons of trips and works great two years old and only on my second battery, which is 3 bucks.

  • tc80 costs around 200USD in Croatia, anyway can i use it with powershot d10, i know its a amateur camera but still can i use it with it ?

  • @100reviews "stable???" ??? I didn't say anything about stability. I said my 2 off brand units have fallen apart at the plug. I paid $40 for my Canon unit, and the plug is much better and clamps in place. If you have not seen the clamp, then you did not have a real Canon product.

  • *found)

  • @PUPPETFILM The battery life is great I have used it extensively since this review ( 8 months ago) and on my second battery. Overall great remote.
