  • ... vibrato wasn't played on flute until 1930 (about). SO why use it here? Just an idea!

  • because we don't live in the 1930s. You don't HAVE to agree with every single artist's interpretation of music. That is the beauty of art, it changes from person to person.

  • a pice 4 2 flutes is a duet

  • oh

    my

    god

i seriously did not know that

thank you and your infinite wisdom of music and spelling

without you i probably would never have know that

    oh

  • that was a very nice piece. There's a bit of interference in the sound of the video but other than that, very good.

  • yuck

  • @Painislife28 yse but this music was composed with a specific idea in the composers mind and vibrato was extremely disliked at this time

  • @irenicflutist

I'm not a musician, but rather a literature student, and in literature the author's intention is considered somewhat extraneous to the piece of art - the standard argument being if it is realized in the piece, then it doesn't need to be considered separately, and if it isn't realized, then it's not part of the piece so shouldn't be considered anyway. On this basis, it seems making an 'author-based' interpretation is self-contradictory.

    I like your style.

But this piece can also be classified as a sonata.

Look it up sometime. Educate yourself. :)

  • I meant it wasn't used UNTIL 1930. So if we did live in the 30s we actually would use it. Have you heard of frans vester? Here is a quote from him: A musical, stylish interpretation of a historical composition is only possible in our own day and age when the player's feeling for the music is guided by knowledge. The stronger the predominance of feeling over knowledge, the further the result strays from the composer's original intention.

... Not saying anyone is right, it was a suggestion.

  • Sonata No. 4 in E minor, Op. 2

    Telemann

  • Can you tell me what the Sonata is please? I would like to get the sheet music. Cheers.
