the story of music:John Cale and Band, Lisa Gerrard, Mark Lanegan, Mark Linkous, Peter Murphy, Mercury Rev, Soap & Skin;
"All That Is My Own"
Your winding winds stood so
All that is my own
Where land and water meet
Where on my soul I sit upon my bed
Your ways have led me to bleed

Every child will be able to weep
Every wise man spoke of him
Every keeper will be sleeper
And a guide to ways unsure

Your winding winds did sow
All that is my own
Where land and water meet
Where on my soul
I sit upon my bed
Your ways have led me to bleed

He who knows may pass on
The word unknown
And meet me on the desertshore
Meet me on the desertshore

Your winding winds did sow
All that is my own
Where land and water meet
Where on my soul
I sit upon my bed
Your ways have led me to bleed

He who knows may pass on
The word unknown
And meet me on the desertshore
Meet me on the desertshore
Meet me on the desertshore

Your winding winds stood so
All that is my own
Where land and water meet
Where on my soul
I sit upon my bed
Your ways have led me to bleed

He who knows may pass on the word I know
And meet me on the desertshore
Meet me on the desertshore

Your winding winds did sow
All that is my own
Where land and water meet
Where on my soul
I sit upon my bed
Your ways have led me to bleed

  • The only thing I don't like is that thing with those stupid antennas

  • I guess this is my new favorite youtube video. There are so many interesting moments on it, like when the Soap & Skin girl tries to run away from the mic, apparently shy in the presence of the others singers, and is pulled back. I also love when Cale commands "again!" at the end. I think they really had to repeat the refrain one more time, and it's funny to think that the old Nico partner was the only one to notice it. All the song has a great triumphal black mass mood of extreme good taste.

  • John Cale´s arrangement is absolutely amazing, as on The Marble Index and Desetshore!
