Female Genital Mutilation in Egypt

Female genital mutilation (FGM) has been illegal in Egypt since June 2008, however this traditional practice is still widespread and deeply rooted in the minds of the people. Plan is working with children and adults at all levels in society for a change in practice, behavior and attitudes that violate girl's rights.

@markmywords53 Are you nuts? traditional sex and clitoral stimulation SHOULD go together. Allah put it there for a reason. A woman who experiences pleasure is more fertile, more happy to be with her husband and a woman who has not had that procedure has fewer medical problems and can have a baby normally without the complications entailed by the women who have had circumcision. It is an insane procedure, particularly the extreme form that is NOT mandated or prescribed anywhere in Islam.

@markmywords53 Whether your wife is Egyptian or not has nothing to do with it. You are still ignorant. All the medical and psychological studies have shown that FGM causes negative physical and mental complications. This is why it is banned in most countries and it's banned in Egypt. It's sad that you refuse to use the phrase genital mutilation and instead use the word circumcision. Circumcision IS mutilation!

In my opinion, FGM is the worst form of child abuse that one can imagine. It is worst than rape and can mess up a girl's life.

Why would you want to cut the Clitoris off? When that happens a woman technically loses more than half of the pleasure she gets when having sex. I mean imagine how painful that would be. 100s of nerves are in the Clitoris. It's probably the most sensitive part on your body besides the eye.

That's just stupid. :l

Women should be appreciated for what they have when they are born. Aswell as men. People shouldn't go around changing every godamn person they see just for their stupid beliefs.
