Asefa Abate was known as the best melody makers of his time- 1940s and 50s Ethiopian calendar; this clip just attests that. Here, you are hearing a song called ' Yematebela Wof'' the translation of this song goes as- a bird that can not be eaten" it was recorded back in 1957 e.c. I heard he dies in 1959 e.c.

  • Assefa Abate is one singer who died in his prime. He was born in Woldia. The best traditional singer there was. Thank you for sharing. Is he the one who sings '...tez alenge agerae...' ?
