Government Gives You Free Cell Phone!! Taxpayers Foot The Bill!!

This is not BS. While the State of Illinois just raised our state income tax by 67%, they are giving away free cell phones!

This county is toast unless we get a hold of reality and stop the welfare! It is helping nobody, but rather keeping healthy people from going out and learning how to take care of themselves.

Fyi, this program is run by Tracfone, NOT the government. Sure Tracfone may use government records to determine your eligibility (food stamp and other assistance records for example), but it's Tracfone who is funding this with their own money.

This is more a marketing ploy by Tracfone than an assistance program. More proof to this claim is that recipients of Safelink phones can purchase further minutes once their allotment ends.  It's a way for Tracfone to sell their service, nothing more.

You are wrong. The company Lifeline gets funded through the extra charges that appear on PAYING CUSTOMER PHONE BILLS as extra charges. SO THIS IS A TAX. NOTHING IS FREE. THESE PHONES ARE COMMONLY CALLED OBAMA PHONES!!

I'm with the brother. I love the gov!!! I never was on welfare, now I'm 47 and haven't worked since oct 08. I get $200 a month in food stamps, 250 free minutes on my free phone, and now a check for being in jail, but our civil rights were violated and anyone that has gone through that God aweful division 5 processing, deserved a check. I never want to go back to cook county jail, anyway this county and this state is fucked up!!!! About the 55 million, the insurance is cutting the check????
