  • Very few people have the honor to change the world and single handedly revolutionize it for generations.

  • Agree with earlier comment - this is definitely at Livermore/LLNL

  • Thanks for posting. Seymour Cray is one of my heroes. Great man with great vision.

Such a great loss to the world.

  • Magnificent Video of a true pioneer of super computing. Pity the last section of the question and answer bit was cut short. Does anyone have the original version of this still that I could get remastered by a local video broadcast company that specialises in cleaning up old video/film footage?

  • This is really very special... Amazing Engineer... amazing....

  • Fantastic talk. From the comments in the video, I would date it to 1974 - not 1976.

  • I loved the talk! Unfortunately the downloadable MP4 version has been corrupted 30 minutes into the video. The rest can't be played in either Quicktime or VLC. Could someone please make the complete version available? Thanks - Tom Hunter

  • Great speech and many timeless lessons. I have this talk on VHS. I've watched it many times, and almost know it by heart. I also have his keynote speech on GaAs at Supercomputing '88 in Orlando, as well as internal talks he gave while I worked at Cray Research, including an interview in which he was asked how he would like to be remembered. Can someone help me to get my VHS tapes digitized and posted on Youtube? j_larson1@mac.com

  • Ah, I found the title of the talk: "What's all this about gallium arsenide?". Recorded in 1988.

  • I think you had talks recorded for that series too ("TERABYTES, TERAFLOPS, OR, WHY WORK ON PROCESSORS WHEN I/O IS WHERE THE ACTION IS"), right?

PS, loved your "Computer Architecture" book!
