Linda Blair • Jeanne Cooper • Lee DeBroux • Martin Sheen • Bert Remsen
An unusual and sensitive drama.
Martin Sheen plays a fugitive from a mental hospital who speaks in rhymes from Coleridge, fancies himself to be Kubla Khan, and imagines that his tumbledown, New Mexican hide-away is a "stately pleasure dome in Xanadu."
Linda Blair plays his kidnaped captive, an ill-educated, teen-age tomboy. At first instinctively fearful of her captor's strange ways, she comes to fall under the spell of his fascinating mind and fantasy world-finding there the spark that unleashes her own unexplored imagination.
This 1975 TV-movie was based on Nathaniel Benchley's novel "Welcome to Xanadu."

Thanks for posting this film. I was 13 when it came out and did not completely understand it back then, but certainly do now. Excellent portrayals by Martin Sheen and Linda Blair. I do not think that such a film would be released today given our sensitivities towards kidnapping/abduction experiences, which generally are very much harsher than was it is being depicted here.

Martin Sheen looks like Emilio Estevez in this. Linda Blair is stunning these days, probably because she's been a vegan for years.
Linda was born in 1959 and Martin in 1940, so they were 16 and 35 when this was filmed!

She was 15 years old acting in this movie portraying a 17 year old tomboy. But, yes, Martin Sheen was very hot back then and a tremdously great actor; and so was Linda....too bad Hollywood screwed her.

Whoever did that cheesey soundtrack for the climactic scene deserves to be shot. Martin Sheen was incredibly hot then though. So weird that he now has sons older than he was then (and one of them is crazy).
