"Are you catholic? Protestant? Jewish? You a Giants fan? Dodgers fan? Yankees fan? .. it was part of your life."
I can completely relate to this. As much as I love baseball, nothing compares to hockey. Where I'm from this is how it is but with the Leafs, Habs, Wings.
A lot of people don't understand why we care so much about a bunch of guys hitting a ball/puck. It's more than that, it's the tradition, the players, and the feeling that is like no other when your team wins the championship.
Yes, but I think baseball is beginnin to recover now- better pitching, starting to weed out the steroid users, the rivalries are starting to really matter to cities and people again.
Tech has surely taken away some things in baseball- but with computers and games, old rosters can be reconstructed, and I can "have" Sandy Koufax duel Juan Marichal at the Polo Grounds as both teams wear their Brooklyn/NY uniforms.
Or being a Mets fan in California, without XM I'd miss most of the Mets' games.

I drive for a Pizza company, and I knock on customers' doors to the tune of "Take me out to the Ball game"

Wow, when do you ever hear an athlete say we were just delighted we could do something for those special people.
They need to reduce every baseball players salary to 200,000 dollars right now.
