She walks along strong and proud, doesn't she?
My old steam railroad engineer friend from years ago used to say:
"A diesel engine is just a flatcar with a
motor on it, but a steam locomotive is
an iron horse!"

Little jerky and shaky, but you caught the real essence of the engine and its sound. Always did like the throaty whistles on Soo Line engines and GN engines. Thank you for sharing your video with us all. Good job !

If you listen close enough, you can hear the words "I think I can" in the chuffing. At least I did!

I have watched the longer video too. I really like the sound of that 6 chime whistle compared to the 3 chime one. the 3 chime is a bit shrill for my taste while the 6 chime... well, it just sounds like a locomotive is supposed to sound to me.

@4freespeech steam locomotives really are alife.
diesels are just boxes with a motor with monotone sound. theres no life.

@VladRo10 Switch engines, such as this one, are low speed engines. Unlike road locomotives, which use large diameter wheels to achieve high speeds, switch engines used smaller wheels in order to start heavy trains in railroad yards.
