im ungodly sad to say. REM's mike mills is past his prime. i listened to a live video of him in 2009 and his voice isnt as good. dont get me wrong im mills' biggest fan. but, i dont expect anymore great singing in any new songs. i feel destroyed.

When the Album Up came out the guys talked about how this song was a Direct Homage to Brian Wilson. It was inspired by the Beach Boys album smiley smile. Michael wrote the lyrics as a gift to Mike and Peter because of how much they love the Beach Boys. It still remains the purest love song he's ever written.
