Description of a Foucault pendulum set up in Gifu, Japan by Prof. Rene Verreault of the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, for investigating whether an Allais effect may possibly occur during the solar eclipse of 22 July 2009.

  • Prof. Verreault's results will take quite some time to analyze, because the data is in the form of recorded video images, and it is necessary to analyze these images with special processing software, which is not yet completely developed (it is nearly ready). So please don't expect anything for a month or so. (My own short pendulum, of radically different construction, showed no deviation during the eclipse.)
