The U.S. is certainly a hyperpower—it dominates the entire world with its military, technological, economic, and cultural power. But it's missing what Amy Chua, author of Day of Empire, calls "glue". Chua visited Zócalo to explain why glue is crucial for a hyperpower, how past empires fared with or without it, and why it's harder for the U.S. to get it.

  • I love this woman… Inspiration!

  • Very smart woman.

  • Amy u r hot

  • You can't have GLUE in the US.

The President himself is rendered impotent and useless by politicians who're openly badmouthing him and deliberately presenting obstacles to him.

Look at Obama. When he came to power, Niggers cried with tears of joy.

Salvation...at last!!! People appeared happy...especially Niggers.

Now...look at the Niggers. They're not THAT happy as before. Some Niggers even are dissappointed with him. Not his fault.

He has to stroke Congress's balls. Puppet.

  • @MoveActFight yeah!

  • Your assumptions are merely those - assumptions. Your book lacks any true understanding of history and you cherry pick facts to fit your view. Stop trying to write sensational books constantly bragging about your Yale education and please go into family therapy so your daughters won't end up like you. You are proof that an ivy league education lacks any kind of true thinking or questioning.

  • Why would I want being glued to an Empire?

  • the glue of slavery is oil

  • What's really amusing is that this wafer-thin "scholarship" is given any credence at all. Talk about the decline of civilizations. I like the pantomime btw... really adds "gravitas" to the whole thing.

  • This wasn't American dilemma. US dilemma was greed and double standards. I mean, who likes being used and not everyone believes that money is the sole purpose of existence. Come on. Besides, who likes being told what to do. Neoliberal economic model sucks and people understand it that's why nobody wants to do it anymore.
