Rubens Barrichello says he has to obbey the team, then realizes what he is saying and says "as well as Michael", and that if he wanted not to be the 2nd driver but the top driver he'd have to go elsewhere... but he wouldn't have a winning car.
Irvine makes it more clear: my role is written in the contract, it can't change, it's all written, black and white.

People who say that FIA is pro-Ferrari seem to forget that before 2003 and 2005 FIA were the one's who deliberatley enforced new rules to oust Ferrari from their dominance. The same applys these days where rules are changed almost each year to not give some teams a massive unfair advantage.

Its because usually the number 2 driver is not consistently fast across the season ... So it does make sense for a team to do this, given that the purpose is to ultimately win the championship ...
