Get up in the morning take the covers from my bed
There's sunlight in my eyes playing tricks with my head
I work like a dog on the job every day
Trying to earn some money so I can go and play

In the night time
I said night time
It's the night time
Oh that's the right time
I want to be with you in the night time

I come home from work now I'm tired and I'm beat
Trying to make some supper but I can't have any heat
I jump in the shower wash the world off my back
I'm going to get my baby that's a natural fact

In the night time
I said night time
It's the night time
Oh that's the right time
I want to be with you in the night time

Move a little closer let me whisper in your ear
Just turn your radio up and you'll hear what I'm saying
Half a million people with nothing to say
Running round in circles they're just living their days
Stick with me baby, I'll show you how to fly
We'll make some real music, watch the world go by

In the night time
I said night time
It's the night time
Oh that's the right time
I want to be with you in the night time

  • I'm not going to dis this great band--The Hunger is one of my favorite flicks, that performance of Bela Lugosi etc. gives me chills every time--but is "The night time is the right time" good? I mean, is it cool to recycle a bluesy refrain I've heard in an ancient Big Bill Broonzy recording, or is it a cliche? I mean, it was cool when Zep ripped off old blues in '69, but was it cool in Bauhaus's era? Or am I obtuse and somewhat shitfaced as well, in no condition to compose music criticism?

  • this is not a Bauhaus song, they covered it.

read the description for the original writers.

  • Great posting. I have only ever heard the live version of this. Where is it from?

  • Its from "Swing the heartache" album :]

  • @dnggitg "Cool"? Get a life.

  • @MrsChaosBitch i agree ... whoever that is is being naiive (don't know if i spelled that correctly).. oh well. peter murphy is wonderful :)

  • @gregboyds

    dumb fuck

  • this is almost like a combination of 'tax man" beat and " a hard days night." or am i just being weird?

  • 4 people are posers.

  • It's a cover of the song 'Night Time' by The Strangeloves (search YouTube for it to see the original!) as noted by the poster, not a cover of the blues song 'The Night Time Is the Right Time' some might recognize from CCR or the Cosby Show (or countless others) as some people have suggested.

    I love it!

  • @dnggitg All rock music is generic and continually refers back to blues. Night time makes good sense for Bauhaus, as the Goths come out at night. Still, if you want to hear something less mind numbing than rock, which often sounds like a theme for a TV commercial, I recommend investigations into Serbian and Romanian folk music.
