Dr. Watkins (1915-2007) demonstrates his adjustments on a patient, circa 1990, in his private practice at La Crescenta, California. He graduated from Lincoln in 1942. He had directoral and teaching positions at Lincoln, Canadian Memorial, Life, and Cleveland in Los Angeles. He has been published extensively. At 83, shortly after his wife died, in 1997 he pioneered Chiropractic in Thailand, first with brief resistance by the authorities, and later accepted and revered for his work. In the 80s, his students at Cleveland were so amazed at his technique, they called him "God". This home video demonstration suggests that he was no ordinary Chiropractor. There are a few biographical obituaries on the Internet. A story is told of a student of his who asked him to examine her dog who was lame in the back legs. He successfully adjusted the dog. Dr. Watkins personally told me that he was asked to examine a race horse at Santa Anita who had its head down and didn't look well. Having never done a horse before, he explored the horse's neck, tried an adjustment, and it worked. He died March 24, 2007 after a series of strokes and heart attacks, and had a traditional Thai funeral ceremony.

  • Why did he go to jail?

  • @Grimz92 He was jailed in Thailand, being suspect for practicing a form of "medicine" not known to them. Yet, he did adjustments on his jailers while he was waiting to be released. Some Army generals like his adjustments, which played a part in getting his release.

  • :S this CAN'T be good... 8:28!

isn't this way to jerky?! freaky

  • It was VERY good! He was among the very best! I wish I could find another chiropractor like him. They all try to free up the neck vertebrae in other ways. He told me that it was like rolling a milk bottle between your hands. The angle and leaverage where he places his fingers and hands is very critical based on his examination of the individual. Then the actual adjustment/movement is ever so slight. There was a famous athelete who tried this on himself and he killed himself doing it..

  • some great neck cracks are ruined by the crappy audio. otherwise perfect.

  • I think the buzz was caused by the florescent lighting as I moved about the room. Some was so bad that I had to edit it out. We joked about being able to hear the neck cracks all the way out in the lobby. I asked him the pops the pops were all about and he said it was air pockets. The pops aren't necessary for the adjustment.

  • @AlanHemenway that's pretty sad, it was late 20th century, not 17th century

  • @AlanHemenway Aye, the florescent fixtures ballasts radiate a noise type energy, which is, I think what my tick tracer picks up when it's giving me signals to let me know if the current is hot.

  • AWESOME neck cracks :)))))))))))))
