About the artist
Thank you for buying my CD. I've poured my heart and soul into the production of this album, and the fact that you think enough of my music to purchase it means a lot to me.
You are receiving a genuine product that was produced over the course of many years. Most of these songs were started by me long before I even had an instrument to play them on.
I grew up in a small village called Jamama town located right on the equator in Somalia, Africa, where life was a daily struggle.
Most of my songs began as simple whistles I created when I was young. I created them to help me get through each day. The hard life lessons I had to endure and learn from are what inspired the lyrics. My simple whistlings were the beginnings of the rhythms. And now that I have realized my dream of producing my songs on a CD, I can share their wisdom with you.
The messages of my music helped me to persist with my studies until one day I earned a scholarship to go to college in the United States. They helped me persist when a more powerful tribe tried to steal my identity and send one of their own kids for the scholarship I earned. And they are with me even today as I look back on my humble beginnings and reflect how I have been able to achieve a PhD, a career as a as a [sic] college professor, and a new tribe to call my own.
As you listen to my music, enjoy the beats and the rhythms. Dance to them and let them relax your mind, but I hope you will also begin to listen to what they are communicating to you. Their messages were created from real experiences, and the power of those messages has already saved me from some of the darkest days of my life. They have helped me achieve my greatest joy in life, and I know that they can also do the same for you.
These songs represent the fusion of entertainment and wisdom into one. I have interwoven my life experience and knowledge as a professor with the fabric of music so that you can enjoy the music while you absorb the knowledge contained within the lyrics.
