.....and the invention of Play Language The drive to educate and care for the young is a core impulse buried deep in the trunk of the Tree of Life. The principle that 'educated' one-celled creatures to grow selectively (as opposed to instructively), and which has held true throughout the history of life, invented the impulse to play. : How on Earth did Play evolve? 2. The question is answered in my e-Book, "Riding the Big Bang of Play into 21st Century Education." Suffice it to say that Play came about from enhanced meaning and movement in animals. The dance of bees, the tails of African wild dogs, the bait-like movement of the snapping turtle's tongue. Play came with color, movement, trickery, stealth, and also with the warm-blooded mammals that nursed and cared for and bonded with their children. "Play is the nicest thing that nature ever did for us," Paul D MacLean once said to me. Institutional learning has lost touch with Play. Through Play Language, we are putting education back in touch with nature by bringing the nature of play into the classroom.
