Yikes! The hv was screaming past 40kv... prototype flyback that is either faulty or the wrong one for this particular variant of a sharp chassis... the original flyback sticker # was worn off. The radiation was penetrating paper & a thick magazine... It did not penetrate a lead piece about the thickness of 2 silver dollars.
tube monitors are supposed to have protection circuits that will turn it off if the voltage goes too high (i.e. high enough to produce a dangerous amount of radiation) so that's gotta be in pretty horrible condition for the voltage to be too high AND the protections don't work!

@KileSimons
Xray is a type of ionising radiation you fuckin idiot

@martyn347 CRT monitors produce x-rays but only in very small amounts. the principle behind CRT monitors and x-ray tubes are pretty much the same concept, this monitor is probably getting too much voltage in some components

@KileSimons ive seen a lot of home made x-ray machines that punch out a lot of energy and they always have geiger counters and they go nuts

its faulty, acting like an xray tube

crap video

uhh x-rays are non-ionising and therefore aren't detectable by geiger counters.

wait are you sayng that old monitors contain radioactive materials?or x-rays?if is that right im just watching my maybe radioactive monitor and writing on your channel.
