@hehehe929 No, because the U.S. treaty with the Arabs, oil dropped in price, which was one of the items of income of the USSR, the economy has fallen down, and even influenced the reforms of Gorbachev a traitor. There was not enough money, and the pressure of world opinion.

@EasyTony55 Soviets, around 60,000 casualtys, 14,000 dead. Afgani's(Enemy fighers) Aprox, atleast 400,000, figures estimate between, 400,000 and 1,000,000, the figure done by the US government was 640,000. With a ratio like that, you could say the Soviets (not Russians... ) won.. but they didnt, their goal was to stop the islamic extremests taking controll, and to prevent co-operation with the Chechian extremests, this they did not achive, realised they wouldnt, and in 1989 withdrawed.
