Beau James, who was a Peace Corps Volunteer in China 2005-2007, is a graduate student at the University of Arizona's Department of Near Eastern Studies. He served in Leshan in Sichuan province, home of the world's largest Buddha LeShan DaFo. He taught English to freshman and sophomore students at Leshan Teacher's College. Beau had a secondary project of hosting teachers from across the province during the summer. He explains how important personal relationships are among the people living there and that the Peace Corps is called The U.S. - China Friendship Volunteers.
