I read Ramachandran, and am interested in what he has to say, but in the BBC documentary "St. Paul" he presented an argument for the viridicality of such TLE mystical experiences which I thought was counter-productive to the naturalistic (rather than supernaturalistic) approach to the topic that should be taken.

You may find the content of my YT channel interesting as I have a strong focus on subjective experiences of temporal lobe epilepsy (from the perspective of not believing in God, like yourself). My video "Sick Mystics" (watch?v=bd1izjaagO8) mentions the experiences you've described. As for the "darker side", some of my upcoming videos will deal with the "demon-ization" of epileptics historically.

My YT video, "Heaven Within You: Ecstatic Seizures" (watch?v=o89gJUmiD0Y) provides a medical journal reference for the hypothesis that Muhammad had temporal lobe epilepsy. I may do a video specifically on that topic one day, but my upcoming project focuses on the hypothesis that the Apostle Paul had temporal lobe epilepsy.

I have left TLE. Once I felt the presence of G-d, which I now realize was a seizure. I have also experienced feelings a of utter bliss.
