URBANISATION IN CHINA
happiness is seen everywhere (trailer)
Award 'Best Documentary' on the Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Film Festival 2011
In China new cities and neighbourhoods emerge faster than ever before. The inhabitants, often relocated from small villages or demolished areas in the city centres, find a new social context in the new cities. The apartments are big and clean, but do they feel at home in the high-rises?
Meanwhile the 'new rich' can buy a nice house in a themed suburb. But the city centres of Thames Town or Holland Village are empty. These areas are used mainly by newlyweds searching the perfect surrounding for their wedding pictures.
The people of the new urbanised china tell their stories.
