@MySearcher1 Not so. He may not have been well known in America before Lady in Red but he has always had a huge following here in Canada and Europe and many other countries for many years before that song came out.

I love Chris De Burgh : Born Christopher Davidson in Argentina, son of a British Diplomat. Now based in R.O.I.. And he is now a successful Artiste, and has been for some years.
It's true, before "Lady In Red" (1986), Chris De Burgh was vertually unknown.

before lady in red he was a minstrel - someone who told stories to music. Afterwards he just sang songs.

my dad keft me this song on tape just before he died, but when i had kids, they got hold of it and it was beyond repair! it has taken a long time to find a song i never knew what it was called but amazingly enuf- thank you utube i was upset without this song!!!

This is a wonderful song, and I wonder why it never became known in the US. I heard it first in the the early 80's, while stationed with the US Army in Germany. It's no wonder that so many of the comments are in German. Well, I'm off on a walk now, part the old Saxon well . . .
