This is a compilation video of the attack in prep counterattacks of Olympic fencer Aliaksandr Buikevich of Belarus in an attempt to provide an analysis of them. The counterattacks of Olympic fencer Dmitri Lapkes, also from Belarus, are also featured in this video. The first song is a cropped version of "Dirty Harry" by the Gorillaz and the second song is "Black Sheep Blues" by Tommy Guerrero.

  • All this is timing and distance....

  • @hamrite yes, it is a particular timing and distance that i wanted to take a look at

  • nice vid :)

but by watching this i sorta get the feeling that his entire defence-strategy is based on that counterattack... and that he's not really an offence-fencer

  • thats because the video focuses specifically on his counterattack: check out his other videos for examples of him attacking. as far as attacks go his is not bad: a hopping attack and when he gets close he accelerates with advance lunge

  • well yeah ofcourse it's because the vid specifies on his counterattacks but for example somewhere in the vid (don't know exactly where and i'm to lazy to look for it :p) he falls short on purpose near the starting line of his opponent so he gives up his right fo attack to make a counterattack, well anyway that's how i saw it :)

  • you are thinking of his bout with yakimenko and he is not falling short on purpose, he is anticipating an attempted attack in prep by yakimenko. you should check out the whole bout, it was really good

  • @CyrusofChaos several remarks: the russian guy steps forward with a low hand, and a constant rythm. When his front foot is up in space, the opponent sends his counterattack, and since there is no change in pace, the same thing occurs several times. The way to approach Buikevich is attacking his blade to remove the idea of counter attack, but in an accelerating mode, double step-longe....we are in high level fencing.

  • @waivuxaan no UCI is actually the better program

  • @andrewzot don't you mean ucsd? they've taken the first in the league for the past several years now

  • Lets agree on one thing: ATTACK in preperation and COUNTERATTACK is not the same thing. Large number of the actions displayed in this video, are attacks in prep.
