This is cool video of collector urchins spawning on the Big Island of Hawai'i.
The sperm & the eggs are both ejected from the urchin. They fertize in the water column where they float around for a few weeks. Then, they rest on the bottom where new, young urchins begin to grow. Very cool. There were hundreds of
urchins all spawning at the same time within a 25'- 40' diameter. Outside that circle, the other urchins displayed no unusual behavior. It was very, very cool..
