  • It really gets no better than this. I saw this broadcast live on BBC 2's "The Late Show" and subsequently lost it in a wiped video. Ralph Sharon - what a pianist, and such a great trio. Tony Bennett is probably the last of the greats and this is a fitting tribute to his performance skills. A REAL singer. If you like this, check out "God bless the child" on the 1996 album "Here's to the ladies".

    Great post. Thank you

  • @flashtheoriginal ....glad you enjoyed it....one of the greats.......

  • Tony Bennett, master, cool, story teller, versatile, owns it. This particular song has never been sung better than Judy Garland did in A Star Is Born. Each and every time I hear her version I get chills. She was incredible.

  • Tony did this great song completely in Italian ofa KAY STARR TV show in the early 50's. The man is an icon.

  • The song is supposed to be gloomy but how come you're not?

  • With all due respect to Mr Bennett....But he really butchered this beautiful song. Make no mistake, I am a fan of this classic singer, but This was truly painful to hear..

  • This version sucks. He tried to jazz up a torch song. No, sorry, it doesn't work. not this time, TB....

  • @flashtheoriginal You´re right, "God Bless The Child" is a also VERY good song (just like the rest of this album) and a great tribute to Billie Holiday..: Poor, that Ralph now isn´t on the piano anymore.

You called Tony the last of the greats - don´t you think, Andy Williams is also one of them?
