That's a typical tragedy with characters of high moral standing, who miss the mark, that leads to the downfall, the characters and audiance realize it, the audience feels pity for the characters and fear for being in a similar situation.

There's apparently nobody caring about ethics in Ian's team except Damon Squire and Karl Sonntag.

This is the ending i tend to get. I hate Defense missions. having to defend a little hospital truck that can get killed in one shoot drove me nuts.
