This afternoon, the 1950s "Standard" Cadet featured in Videos 1-3 was removed and replaced with the 1936 MODERNUS bowl featured in Video 10 and the 4050 tank featured in Video 9, but using a Korky Quiet Fill fill valve. The Modernus bowl is an inch taller than the Cadet, and it's long base is more stable on the floor, a much better fit for all! You will see a complete flush and tank fill without all the camera noises that degraded my earlier video. This will be the last installation of the season.

  • Hey I got your message but was un able to reply... the Carlyle looks like the Standard Lexington on the inside!. Thanks for the link. Ill keep searching.

  • @Landaux I can't reply to a note either. Instead of the name of the one I'm replying to, I see a long line of gibberish like "uk5v7KZMkG94TPOetJdcRg"! You're right, it does look like a Lexington with ridges. It appears that American Standard started with the "Master One-Piece", which evolved to the "Carlyle", and then to the "Lexington". I've seen a couple videos of the Lexington. They flush like the One-Piece and Carlyle, but lo no longer have the ridges

  • I was just at the junk shop today & got a better look at the tank, & it's a lot older than I thought it was. It is a Standard #4050 tank made in 1935 which has its original flush handle & flushvalve along with a 1987-1988 Fluidmaster 400A Fill Valve. I believe that the guy has the tank lid for it as well. He wants $10 for the tank, which I'm going to buy, clean & rebuild. I'll post a video of it as soon as I buy it. Now all I need is the Modernus bowl to go with it, & all be all set.

  • @MrBrombomb $10 is a steal for that 4050 tank, especially with the original handle. I'm sure there are still a lot of the bowls still out there and eventually you'll come across one (or two!). I'm looking forward to your video of the rebuilt tank.

  • @SparkwoodAnd21Vt I also plan on doing a video of it before I rebuild it.

  • @MrBrombomb Great! I'll look forward to seeing them. I wish I had done that with all of my restorations. If and when I do any more of them, I will make before and after videos.

  • The toilet in question is called the American Standard "Carlyle" I believe.

  • Hey I found on display a one piece 1960s possibly a reverse trapper. Check your PM. I forgot the name of it.

  • The smiling cyclops reigns king.

  • @SparkwoodAnd21Vt The 1921 Standard Tank that I have is unique in that its made of metal & has a white enamel overcoat. It also looks like it would be mounted on the same bracket as a wall-hung sink instead of being bolted directly to the wall. It still has the brass ballcock & Douglas style brass flush valve as well as the porcelain handle. I wonder what bowls were available from Standard (American Standard) in 1921 that would've been possibly paired with this tank.
