Hi, my name is Eric Helms. I've been accepted into grad school at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand to research and study Nutrition and Physical Activity and Strength and Conditioning. I am an American living in California and I devote my life to advancing and teaching science in the fields of nutrition, weight training, and body recomposition. I am an instructor at Bryan University in the health and fitness department and I also compete in natural bodybuilding and power lifting.
For those of you who were a part of Phase 1 of my fundraiser, I have to say thank you so much! We were able to raise nearly 2k in 90 days! Phase 2 will be the same goal with the same time frame. To update you all, I want to let you know that I am working on a Literature review on the subject of dietary protein's impact on lean body mass among dieting strength athletes of a healthy weight, and hopefully I will finish this by early next year. Also, my advisers and I are in the process of designing the methodology for a pilot cross sectional study on the same population, to be followed up with a study where we manipulate more aspects and attempt to determine optimal levels of protein intake for lean weight lifters while dieting.
In this economic climate, and considering the cost of moving and living overseas, funding this research is going to be a challenge that I plan to meet head on. With your assistance, I know it can be done! If you donate, you will be funding research costs for equipment, tests, my tuition and my living expenses that are all necessary to achieve a better understanding of nutrition and weight training.
Until I am schedule to move in summer of 2012, I will be trying to raise $2500 every 90 days. During this time, your assistance means so much! Thank you for supporting our sport and passion, I promise that it will be money well spent, giving back to our community in the long run!
It certainly does! Looking at late summer 2012 for when we'll be moving
